The grandson of cosmetic legend Max Factor, Davis Factor began shooting after receiving his first camera at the age of 13. Factor honed his craft at the Art Center where he worked with Kookan and Gilles Bensimon. Early on, he worked on photo shoots with the Paris Fashion Group and Industria SuperStudio in New York.
In 1990, Factor founded Smashbox Studios. He has also created a modeling agency, beauty agency specializing in representing hair & makeup artists and stylists and also formed Smashbox Cosmetics. After a trip to New York City for Fashion Week, Davis initiated talks to create Los Angeles Fashion Week. Throughout his many creative endeavors, Davis has never stopped shooting; in fact, his ventures have only heightened his love of capturing beauty.
After selling Smashbox Cosmetics to Estée Lauder, Davis now serves as the Head of Creative Worldwide for the cosmetic powerhouse. He is currently in the process of finishing his first book, Shoot from the Hip, which will provide a glimpse into his journey as a photographer, entrepreneur and creative pioneer.
