Alexandra Avakian, from a movie business family, spent her teenage years in Malibu, California. For almost 30 years she has been a photojournalist, covering some of the most important stories of her time. Avakian has been published by National Geographic magazine, Time, The New York Times Magazine and many others worldwide. Her memoir, Windows of the Soul: My Journeys In The Muslim World was published by National Geographic.
