Contact High Records

Contact High Records is the Annenberg Space for Photography’s first-ever pop-up record shop. Featuring rare, hard-to-find, out-of-print, and classic vinyl, the shop is curated by local collectors including WaxAddict LA, House Shoes (Los Angeles), Record Jungle (Montebello), and one of California’s oldest record stores, Folk Arts Rare Records (San Diego). The shop was built by artist Trevor Amery and created by photographer Brian “B+” Cross. A large-format print of Cross’ cover image – for DJ Shadow’s seminal recording Endtroducing (1996) – provides the shop’s dramatic backdrop. While inside, be sure to check out an exclusive graffiti tag made for the Photo Space by New York City visual artist Cey Adams.

Contact High Records will be restocked during the entire run of CONTACT HIGH: A Visual History of Hip-Hop, and admission to the exhibit is free, so come back often and find that rare gem you’ve been dreaming about.
